Lafayette, I am here

Hello all,
Just wanted to bring you up to speed on all the latest from G-2. Since my last post I've been busy with the details of the last trip and preparations for upcoming trips in 2007 and 2008. One of the items I hope many of you will be receiving in short order is the first of a bi-monthly G-2 newsletter. Please keep an eye out for it. We will also be posting the newsletter on the web page. You can also expect to see some historical additions to the page, including photographs and, as time permits, historical articles, primary sources etc.

I'll get to all of this once I get back from the latest trip across the puddle. Appropriately-for me anyway-I am here in Paris on the Fourth. I'm staying in the Hotel Ambassador which, for those of you with a head full of trivia, was Charles Lindbergh's favorite place to stay when in Paris and where I was in 2002 for the premier of BoB. I thought about this quite a bit on the flight over after I saw that the "in-flight entertainment" included the Band of Brothers series. This evening I'll be celebrating the fourth with some very dear French friends who are holding a Fourth of July party. I'm apparently the guest of honor-or the only American they could dig up on short notice. I'll be spending a couple of days here in the City of Light, and plan on walking the route Adolf Hitler took when he spent a whopping three hours in the city as well as the route taken by the Allies when they advanced into the city in 1944. Last but not least, I'll pay my respects at Lafayette's tomb-my favorite Revolutionary War personality.

I'll keep everyone posted as we go along and, with any luck, actually post some pictures this time around.
