The Other Side of the Hill

Hello everyone. This post will be short-bet your glad. We spent a couple of great days in the Hurtgen. Much more time walking around in the woods-made the walk from Simonskall down to the Mesterger Muhle were the 28th Division got hammered. Wonderful walk and much more informative when it was done with maps and accounts in hand. Still a remarkable battlefield that I need to spend a lot more time at. Saturday night we also had the good fortune to spend the evenining with Gerhard Ruttig who fought in the Sixth Army for the whole war. He was "lucky" enought to get wounded just before the encirclement at Stalingrad and then fought at Kursk and all the way back to Germany. Amazing guy. He was a panzergrenadier and has some incredible stories. He has done a book in German and I'll be working to translate some bits of it. We're in Spa now, after a day doing the "Northern Shoulder" and we are now off to Bastogne. Running to catch a bus-its me that is late today-so will keep this short. I'll fill in all the black spots tonight once we check in at March-hopefully.
God Bless to all,
Chris
