Hello all,
Sitting in the hotel in Ruhpolding and catching up on some work while waiting for our final dinner at the Eagle's Nest. There is now snow but it's cold and rainey. They assure me we'll get up the mountain, so fingers crossed.
The Auto Teknik museum was super. The tiger one was gone, but they had so much other stuff it didn't really matter. The cool new addition was the remote controlled panther. You put in a couple of Euros and you could start her up, see the treds go, rotate the turret and gun etc. Very cool. I wanted to find Steph to tell him about it-you all know he has fantasies about being a panzer driver-but no luck. Maybe next time.
After the museum it was time for the looooong drive to the alps. The sun was shining and the view was great so it was not so bad. It's been a bit rainy here for the past couple of days, which is a bit of a bummer, but the weather does not seem to have slowed down Don and Buck or their stories.
Kaprun was emotional for me, as always, and Don was able to fill in a few more pieces of the puzzle for me, which was great. The group was super as well and I definately hope to see some of them in future with the rest of our alumni.
Now I'm getting ready for a week in Italy with Anna. I've promised her no World War II but we'll have to see. Then it's back for the Bulge trip, which should be amazing, since we now have George Koskimaki and John Primerano coming along as well. It will be hard to beat that lineup. For those of you who have been waiting to hear about 08, the updated dates should be on the site now, and an e-mail will be going out soon with some more info on the trip.
Hope all is well Stateside. I'll post a few more pictures. Once I'm back, I'll download the rest and set up a page so you can have a look at Buck and Don in action.
Chris
