Walking along the west wall

Another great day for the group. Rather than stop at the Simserhof, which I've been to way to many times, today, after Hagenau, we went to the Westwall museum. It is much smaller and less flashy than Simershof, but really great. The bunker complex includes two completely restored German bunkers with EVERYTHING inside. Also got to stop at the old Kaserne for the 104th Infantry Regiment. Really neat stuff. After visiting the bunkers, the folks at the museum were kind enough to take us to one of the best preserved sections of the Siegfried Line I'd ever seen. Dragon's teeth galore! Don would have been very jealous. We'll definately be making this a stop in future. The folks at the museum explained that given enough time, the hills are full of old bunkers that they can take us to. Most preserved like time capsules and definately off the beaten path.

Tomorrow it is off to the Auto Tecknik museum and a chance to see a Tiger I from the inside out-this one has been cut in half so you can see the inside. Also on the hit parade is one of Hitler's trains. It should be cool and Erik, my camera guy, promises to take lots of pictures.

Hagenau was great as well. Don, In particular, had a good deal to ad about Easy and the last patrol. He had some terrific recollections of OP 2 and the last patrol. All in all a super day. Tomorrow it is off to the alps, and if the weather holds it promises to be really spectacular. Hope all else is well on your side of the pond.
Chris
